For Immediate Release
Conway, SC –Road closures and conditions during post-Florence have caused traffic congestion for anyone needing to travel to Myrtle Beach from Conway, including Coast RTA. On Friday, Coast RTA announced service modifications for its fixed routes which are scheduled to begin on September 22.
Coast RTA will continue to provide limited service similar to that of the last two days. Service on Routes 10, 15 North, and 15 South operate on full schedules.
Limited service on Route 16 and 16X will remain, as well, with service between Georgetown and Myrtle Beach. Departures in the morning are 6 AM and 7:30 AM from Georgetown. There will only be a 3:30 PM departure on 16X from 79th Avenue North and 16 will run its normal schedule.
Passengers are advised that the 6:30 PM departure on Route 16 will terminate in Conway at about 8:30 PM.
However, Route 7 does have changes. There will be only one departure from Conway. That departure will take place at 7 AM from the Conway Terminal to Myrtle Beach. Due to traffic congestion and road closures, Route 7 will then operate between Myrtle Beach and Coastal Carolina University ONLY throughout the rest of the day. Route 7’s last departure from Myrtle Beach to Conway will be at 8 PM.
Traffic to depart Conway for Myrtle Beach is limited to US 501 Business; thus, causing 1-3-plus hours delays to cross the Waccamaw River.
Coast RTA appreciates all passengers understanding during post-Florence service. Coast RTA apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause but is striving to provide the best service it can given the road conditions/closures and circumstances with the flooding.
