As road conditions continue to improve, Coast RTA announced Thursday that it would reinstate two of its fixed routes: Routes 1 and 3 on Friday, October 5. These routes will resume their normal service schedules. Coast RTA began operating its fixed routes: 7, 7X, 10, 15 North, 15 South, 16 and 16X on September 30. Conditions in Loris are still not conducive to operating Route 2 at this time.
“With our recent review of the road conditions along fixed routes 1, 2 and 3, we agreed that we could begin operations of two of the affected routes. Roadways along Route 2 -Loris to Conway – is still not accessible for our buses. Therefore, we will continue to monitor those roadways to determine a date/time when we may be able to operate that fixed route and serve the residents of Loris,” said Coast RTA General Manager Brian Piascik. “In regards to our Route 7, passengers should continue to expect delays as our drivers maneuver the traffic congestion associated with road conditions and lane closures.”
Coast RTA operates the following fixed routes: No. 1 – Conway Circulator; No 2 – Conway to Loris; No. 3 – Conway to Bucksport; No. 7 and No. 7 Express (7X) – Conway to Myrtle Beach; the No. 10 – Myrtle Beach Connector; the 15 North and 15 South, choice of routes with select stops along Kings Highway and Ocean Boulevard from 82nd Avenue North to Market Common; and, the 16 and 16 Express (16X) [Georgetown routes]. Coast RTA fixed routes are $1.50 per ride for adults; $1.25 students with ID; $.75 per ride for senior citizens/disabled citizens and FREE for children, ages 6 and younger (limit 3 with paid adult). The Express Route fare from Georgetown is $2 per ride for adults. All transfers are $.25 each. For additional route information, call Coast RTA Customer Service at 843.488.0865.
